Our Services

We offer comprehensive surveys and buildings assessment that will ensure you comply fully with all current legislation.

Before we start on site we always produce a full risk assessment/method statement, this would be issued to you prior to the survey starting on site.

Our highly trained surveyors then arrive on site to carry out the survey which will involve taking samples. These samples are then sent off to an independent laboratory to be analysed. If the surveyor sees any dangerous Asbestos Containing Materials on site then we immediately inform you. Once the samples are returned from the laboratory we then produce a comprehensive report within two weeks of the survey being carried out; usually sooner.

Management Surveys - These surveys are normally carried out in occupied buildings and will ensure “Duty Holder” compliance

Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys – These surveys are required prior to upgrading, refurbishment or demolition of a property.

Premises types for both surveys include domestic, commercial and industrial.

Asbestos can deteriorate with time, become damaged, or the use of the building can change; all these factors can affect the likelihood of asbestos containing materials releasing fibres into the air.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 places a duty on those responsible for workplaces, to have an effective plan for managing asbestos. This plan will ensure that your workforce, any visitors to your premises, maintenance staff and your contractors are protected against exposure to asbestos fibres. An Asbestos Management Plan is a document that includes your asbestos policy and procedures and the arrangements you have in place to make sure that policy is effective. We work with our clients to bring their asbestos management up to date and compliant with current legislation. We then continue to work with our clients to ensure they remain compliant.

An effective Management Plan may contain the following

HSE documents and legislation

Full sampling management survey

Schedule of tasks with dates for asbestos management with records of any asbestos removal/labelling encapsulation etc

Training records for Asbestos Awareness training, and certificate evidence of this

Staff induction records and evidence of this

Written records of contractors using the register/survey

Permit to work areas (if required) and records of this

The management plan will highlight areas of asbestos that need to be managed in some way. This could be labelling and managing, encapsulation or removal. These works can be prioritised and planned as per the recommendations in the Management Plan.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Regulation 10 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are, or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees.

This means that anyone whose work could disturb the fabric of a building and therefore expose asbestos, or anyone who supervises or instructs work on buildings, should undertake Asbestos Awareness training.

If you are working on buildings that were built prior to the year 2000, there is a possibility that asbestos will be present. Asbestos Awareness can help you to avoid the risks of asbestos exposure.

On successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:

Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke.

Be familiar with the types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings.

Know how to avoid the risks from asbestos by understanding where to obtain information on asbestos in premises prior to commencing work.

What to do if suspicious materials are found.

How to use appropriate workplace precautions.

Undertake work activities in a safe manner and without risk to themselves or others.

Have an awareness of the key aspects of the asbestos regulations and how they fit into the broader context of health and safety legislation.

Procedures to be followed when coming into unintentional contact with ACM’s, and an understanding of the appropriate emergency arrangements.

Training can be tailored to suit your requirements within the framework of the Regulations.
